Helen E. "Honey" (Reese) Flynn, 86, of Dover died Wednesday evening Feb. 29, 2012 in Union Hospital following a sudden illness.

Helen was born Dec. 6, 1925 in Beaumont, Texas, the daughter of the late John Howard and Alma Lucille (Luce) Reese.

She was a registered nurse at Union Hospital in Dover and she served on the development team that founded the Intensive Care Unit. She had also previously been the office nurse for Dr. Jim Houglan. She began her nursing career at Sharon General Hospital in Pennsylvania and was a nursing instructor in it's school of nursing. Following her retirement from nursing, she remained active in the Union Hospital Auxiliary.

Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover where she was active in the Lois Circle and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Friends of the Dover Public Library, and the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts. She had many interests including gardening, reading, sewing, and cooking for her family, and will be remembered for her terrific chocolate pie and baked beans. She was also a great dog lover.

Honey will be sadly missed by her family including her husband, Charles "Chuck" with whom she would have celebrated 66 years of marriage this Oct. 12; two daughters Susie Hawk of Dover and Georgia (Dan) Banks of Blacklick, Ohio; a son, David Reese (Renee) Flynn of Bath Township; seven grandchildren, Sarah (John) Wolfe, Jake (Chantelle) Hawk, Chuck (Marlana) Banks, Dan (Holly) Banks, Evan, Kyle, and Grace Flynn; four great grandchildren Kate Banks, Jack and Jamey Wolfe, and Daniel Banks.

A celebration of Helen's life will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:00pm in the First United Methodist Church at Dover with Rev. Bruce McLaughlin officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum at Dover Burial Park. A reception will follow in the church social hall. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from Noon until 2pm.
