Hazel I. Yockey, age 87, of Dover, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016, in the New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover.

Born November 20, 1928, in Mineral City, she was a daughter of the late Ervin and Mary Shott Gross. Hazel graduated from Mineral City High School in 1946, and went to work for the U.S. Ceramic Tile Co. in East Sparta and then the Reeves Steel Co. in Dover. Hazel was a member of Dover's Faith United Methodist Church for more than 60 years; she served as church treasurer and worked in the church's clothes closet and soup kitchen. She also belonged to the American Business Women's Association, and was active with the Mineral City High School Reunion Committee. In her younger days, Hazel was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Dover Band Boosters. Two of her favorite pastimes were going dancing and playing bridge on Tuesday nights.

Survivors include her three daughters, Kathe (Harry) Paidas of Alliance, Cynthia (companion Darrell Griffey) Corregan of Canton, and Mary Ellen (Jim) Cugliari of Dover; her nine grandchildren, Peter (Ashley), Steven and Matthew Paidas, Ryan (Courtney) and Nicholas Corregan, Brian, Breanna, Danielle and Andrew Cugliari; her very special great-granddaughter, Madisyn Sue Corregan; and her nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert Yockey; and her sisters, Betty Gross, Margaret "Peggy" Miller and Norma Komaromy.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 4, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Shelly Nordine officiating.
