Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Ruth Strickmaker Dunkle, whom he married on his birthday in 1940; a son, Gary (Cheryl) Dunkle of Stone Creek; two grandchildren, Michael (Jerri) Dunkle of New Philadelphia, and Christine (Paul) Parrish of Port Washington; four great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Nicole Dunkle, and Haley and Heather Parrish; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by six sisters, Erma Barr, Cathryn Clemens, Mary Long, Edith Hines, Clara Dunkle and Betty Jane Smith; three brothers, Charles, Delbert and Clarence Dunkle (Clarence was killed in France during the Second World War).
