Harry D. Overton, 79, of Dover, Ohio died Thursday, February 5, 2004 in his home following a long battle with silicosis.

Harry retired in 1980, as part owner of Rees Cast Stone in Dover for many years.

Born June 3, 1924 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, he was the son of the late Luke and Trace Grosjean Overton.

Harry was a member of the New Life Church of God in Dover. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working with stained glass and made lamps and other creations. He created the stained glass windows for the New Life Church. In the mid 50�(TM)s, he helped organize the minor baseball league at Dover and with the help of the kids, built the first dugouts. He coached the Midway Lumber baseball team and was also formerly active in the Cub Scouts and DeMolay programs. He was a member of the Tuscarawas Masonic Lodge #59 at Dover and the Eastern Star and a past member of the Dover Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife Midge Teel Overton with whom he would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on May 10.

He is also survived by his son and daughter in law Pastor Dode and Hazel Overton and three super grandchildren, Ben, Katie, and Aaron Overton all of Atwood Lake.

A brother in law Jeffrey Teel and his wife, Brenda of San Francisco, California and special friends, Sue Marsh of Dover and Karyn Stuart of Atlanta, Georgia along with several nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by one brother, Luke Overton, two sisters, Arlene Gilmore and Lucille Fisher and a sister in law and brother in law Rachel and Ron Aleshire.

A service celebrating Harry�(TM)s life will be held Sunday, February 8, 2004 at 3 pm in the New Life Church of God in Dover with Pastor Urie Hershberger officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Sunday from 2-3 pm. At Harry�(TM)s request, cremation will take place and interment will be held at a later date in the Dover Burial Park.
