Grace G. Allen

Grace G. Allen, 89, of Dover, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in the Park Village Assisted Living Center.

She was born June 2, 1923 at Dover, the daughter of the late Roy and May Belle Dietz Steinebrey.

A familiar face to a generation of area shoppers, Grace worked for a number of local stores over the years including, most notably, the A & P Store and Daniel's Dress Shop. She also took great pride in her first job following high school, working as a "Rosie Riveter" to aid the war effort. Following her working years, she enjoyed traveling and touring all around the United States.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen, in 1985.

Surviving family members include: a daughter, Susi (Red) Appleby of Stone Creek; two sons, John (Fern) Allen of Owasso, OK and Tim (Diana) Allen of Evansville, IN; a sister, Mary Steinebrey of Westlake; brother, Lloyd Steinebrey of Walnut Creek; eight grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by her daughter, Melanie Boyer, and a brother, John.

A private family funeral service will be held Saturday in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Interment will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.
