Glenn O. Murray, 92, of Dover, died Monday, October 11, 2004 in his home.

Born July 28, 1912 in Dover, he was the son of the late William Clifford and Marie Emma Pfeiffer Murray.

Glenn was a skilled carpenter who spent the bulk of his working years building homes, retiring from the trade in 1972.

He had been a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. He was also proud of his service to our country, having served in the European Theater during World War II as a member of the Army.

In his spare time, Glenn enjoyed being outdoors seeking for “treasures” using his metal detector.

On September 18, 2002, Glenn lost his best friend with the passing of his wife of 56 years D. Jane Garner Murray.

Survivors include: two sons, William G. (P.J.) Murray of Houston, TX, and Michael L. (Etta) Murray of Dundee; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Allison Murray, and Ted, Jeff and Donald Crites; seven great grandchildren; a brother, John Murray of Dover; and two sisters, Iris Walker of New Philadelphia, and Elsa Mitchell of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by: a sister, Ethel Demaree; three brothers, Eldon, Clark and Howard Murray; and a stepson, Ted Crites.

A funeral service celebrating Glenn�(TM)s life will be held Friday, October 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. LuAnn Youngman officiating. In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated following the ceremony. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
