Glenn A. Swinderman

Glenn A. Swinderman, 78, of New Philadelphia and formerly of Dover, died Sunday, April 3, 2005 in Coshocton County Memorial Hospital, following an eight-week battle with illness.

Born May 17, 1926 at Dover, he was the son of the late Ralph & Mildred Schoelles Swinderman.

He had retired from the former Warner & Swasey at New Philadelphia where he had worked for 21 years as a painter. Following his retirement, he spent nine years working as a security guard for White Motors in Canton.

Over the past ten years, Glenn was a fixture at New Towne Mall where he and his long time friends would be embroiled in their daily card games. He was also a loving a prideful family man who always looked forward to spending time with his wife and children and especially watching his grandkids take the field for local sports teams.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of nearly 60 years, Virginia L. (Ball) Swinderman, who survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Jeff (Laurie) Swinderman, and Gregory A. (Diana) Swinderman both of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Brian Swinderman of Florida, Justin Swinderman of New Philadelphia, Jessica Swinderman of Mineral City, Cory, Casey and Kyle Swinderman of New Philadelphia, and Gina (Nathan) Elder of Florida; two great grandchildren, Luke and Amelia Elder of Florida; a sister, Phyllis Espenschied of Dover; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Swinderman of New Philadelphia.

Glenn was devastated last year by the loss of his son, Ronald Swinderman and grandson, John Swinderman. In addition, he was also preceded in death by: a sister, Betty Sicurella; brother, Kenneth Swinderman, and an infant sister.

A service celebrating Glenn�(TM)s life will be held in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Wednesday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m. Immediately following the ceremony, the family will receive friends in a reception at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.

Friends may call in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.

After services Wednesday, and in keeping with Glenn�(TM)s wishes, his body will be cremated. A public graveside service will be held Friday, April 15, at 1:00 p.m. in New Philadelphia�(TM)s East Avenue Cemetery.
