Glenn A. Burky

Glenn A. Burky Sr., 79, of the Schoenbrunn area in New Philadelphia passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.

Born on August 22, 1936 in Sugarcreek, he was the son of the late Russell and Alice (Mutchelknaus) Burky. He is also preceded in death by his stillborn infant sister. On December 17, 1955 married the love of his life, Iva C. Watts, who survives.

Glenn worked at Timken Roller Bearing in New Philadelphia. He later retired from Lauren Manufacturing after 28 years, where he worked as a draftsman, tow motor operator, and a line operator.

Family has always meant the most to him. He loved being outdoors and fishing. He was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working on his own vehicles and mowers up until the last couple of years.

In addition to Iva, he will be sadly missed by his children; Deb (Jim) Shear of New Philadelphia, Glenn Jr. (Naomi) Burky of New Cumberland; two brothers, Lysle Burky (companion, Georgianna) of Massillon, Terry (Karen) Burky of New Cumberland; seven grandchildren, Diana (Matthew) Newton, Tiffany (Steve) Newman, Amber (Butch) Roup, Ashley (Ryan) Wilson, Jeremy (Ashley) Burky, Russell Shear, and Jessy Shear (Brandyn Murtaugh); seven great grandchildren, Jordan Roup, Logan Roup, Brogen Wilson, Cadance Burky, Carter Burky, Hailey Newton, Brandon Newton; along with his sister in law, Lois Miller of Dover; and brother in law, Larry Watts of New Cumberland.

A celebration of Glenn's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Larry G. Stitt officiating. Burial will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Dover funeral home on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 4-7pm and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
