August 10, 1918 — September 13, 2009

Glen M. Galbraith, 91, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, in Union Hospital, Dover, from complications following surgery for abroken hip.

Born, Aug. 10, 1918, in Dennison, he was a son of the late Alexander G. and Bertha O. Morris Galbraith. Glen graduated from Dennison High School in 1936, and, before the Second World War, played basketball on a traveling team along with his five brothers. He attended Ohio University, and then went on to serve in the United States Army as a
Second Lieutenant with the 88th Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. While in the service of his country, Glen had the opportunity to play basketball and was part of a championship team. Following his service time, Glen was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for some forty years before retiring. He was very proud of the fact that he was elected and served as mayor of Dennison in the 1950's.

Glen attended Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia for many years; he was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Dennison and the NARVE (railroad group).

He was fond of the outdoors, especially gardening and caring for his home and the surrounding area. He was handy with tools and could repair most household problems. A lifelong sports fan, Glen was always current as to the latest sports happenings.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Regina Donofrio Galbraith, whom he married on Jul. 10, 1948; a sister, Blanche "Babe" Morris of Uhrichsville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Galbraith, and by his brothers, James, Frank, Donald, Robert and Ralph Galbraith.
