Gertrude L. Lampe

Gertrude L. Lampe, 87, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, September 8, 2001 in Aultman Hospital at Canton.

She had worked for many years as a clerk at the former W.T. Grant Company.

Born April 30, 1914 in Fostoria, Ohio, she was daughter of the late Fred & Geneva Arnold Ropp.

For nearly 60 years, ''Gertie'' was an avid bowler and active in the local bowling community. A member of the Tuscarawas County Bowlers Hall of Fame, she had formerly worked the desk at Kinser Lanes and enjoyed teaching children and instructing junior bowlers.

She had also been past president of the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar C. Lampe, who died February 22, 1975.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by 2 infant sons and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 11, at 11:00am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Brent DeWees officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8pm. A reception will be held following services in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
