George L. Tinlin Ii

Gene L. Tinlin II, 71, of Sugarcreek and formerly of New Philadelphia died suddenly on Friday, September 12 2014 at his home.

Born January 6, 1943 in Canton he was a son of the late Gene and Billie Bertoni Tinlin. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lance Tinlin.

Gene retired from Ohio Power after many years of service and the 1485th Ohio National Guard Armory in Dover. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his wife of 17 years, Ruth Ditto Tinlin whom he married on July 27, 1997; son, Tahdi (Gina) Ditto of New Philadelphia; brother, Curtis (Martha) Tinlin of Canton; sister, Deidra (Don) Chick of California; three grandchildren, Kyra and Evelyn Ditto and Alex Nylund.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 18 at 6:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Cremation will follow the service with burial in the Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
