Gene H. Smart

Gene H. Smart, 80, of Dover, formerly of Strasburg, died May 4, 2007 in Union Hospital in Dover.

Born September 12, 1926 in Dover, Gene was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Glass) Smart. He married the love of his life, Angeline (Maugeri) Smart, who preceded him in death.

Gene retired from Massillon Steel Casting where he was an inspector. He served our country in the US Army in the 3rd infantry division from Jan 26, 1945 to October 20, 1946. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his friends, cooking, fishing, hunting, and watching stock car races.

He is survived by two sons; Randy Smart of Sherrodsville, Mike (Pam) Smart of Wyoming; a sister, Carolyn (Martin)Dreher of Strasburg, and four grandchildren; Christian and Anthony Smart both of Sherrodsville, and Mikayla and Cody Smart both of Wyoming.

Gene is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law; Renee Smart, a half sister; Margorie Wallick; and good friends; Fred Hepner and Harry Dickey.

In honoring Gene�(TM)s wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service and luncheon will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, which is located at 831 Boulevard in Dover, on Friday, May 11, 2007. The memorial service will begin at 11:00am. Rev.
