Floyd R. Jones

Floyd R. Jones, 79, of Dover, died Sunday, June 25, 2006, in Aultman Hospital, Canton, following an apparent heart attack Saturday.

Born November 20, 1926 in Chillicothe, he was a son of the late Raymond and Annis Speakman Jones. Floyd was a United States Army veteran and was a retired truck driver, having worked for Von Kaenel Trucking. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Dover. Floyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed gardening, canning and tinkering with the lawnmower. In his younger days liked to fish, camp and ride and show horses.

Survivors include three daughters, Sheri (husband, Paul) Kendle of Mineral City, Valerie (husband, Clarence) Yoder of Beach City, and Patti (husband, Joe) Fuhrer of Strasburg; three sons, Terry (wife, Carolyn) Jones of Dover, Tim (wife, Michelle) Jones of Canton, and Dave (wife, Bonnie) Jones of Strasburg; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Shawn, Scott, Jason, Lisa, Michael, January and Lacey; six great-grandchildren; step-mother, Scioto Jones of Chillicothe; a half-sister; a half-brother; a step-brother; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Myrtle Taylor Jones, in 1999; two great-granddaughters; and a brother, John Jones.

Floyd�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Thursday, June 29, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Rev. Kevin R. Anslow officiating. The Dover post of the V.F.W. will conduct military rites at the funeral home immediately following the service, and the family will then host a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
