Felix Yosick, Sr.

Felix Yosick, Sr., 80, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 in his home.

Born May 26, 1926 in Fairfield Township, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Magdalena Yosick.

In 1991, Felix retired from Tuscora Park, where he had worked for nearly 30 years on the maintenance team that helped to take care of the park. He was hardworking and loved being around all of the families and children. Tuscora was a place of great pride for Felix, as the smiles on children�(TM)s faces always seemed to make his hard work in helping keep the park beautiful worthwhile.

That pride in the park also translated into his keen interest in the outdoors and love of animals. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed everything from fishing to gardening. He loved feeding all animals and never turned away from caring for any strays.

Felix bravely and honorably served our country during World War II. He was a Rifleman in the Army�(TM)s Anti-tank Company, 3rd Infantry in Central Europe.

His wife, Mary J. Sparks Yosick, who died May 21, 1991, preceded him in death.

Surviving family members include: six sons, Dave (Lillian “Becky”) Yosick, Dale Yosick, Richard Yosick, Clifford (Lynne) Yosick, and Franklin (Cindy) Yosick all of New Philadelphia, and Felix (Gayle) Yosick, Jr. of Bowerston; two daughters, Norma (Rick) Breehl and Nancy (Burt) Copeland both of New Philadelphia; eleven grandchildren, Steven Yosick, Patty Montes, Holly (Leno) Gonzales and Rodney Yosick of Oklahoma, Richard Breehl, Terri Breehl (Larry) Wells and Robin Gollehon (Dave) Fox all of New Philadelphia, Darren Yosick and Kaci Yosick of Bowerston, Carrie (Tim) Miller of Bolivar, and Cory Yosick of New Philadelphia; 13 great grandchildren; many loving step grandchildren, step great and great -great grandchildren; a sister, Clara Hency of Massillon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Felix was preceded in death by: brothers, Walter, Lawrence, and Franklin Yosick & and a sister Mary Reiger.

A funeral service that celebrates the life of Felix will be held Friday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m. in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia, where members of the Carl C. Stoller Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct military honors at the grave. Following the burial, all are invited to a reception being held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.

Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-9 p.m.
