Evelyn Marie Storrie

Evelyn Marie Storrie, 85, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, in Union Hospital, Dover. Her death was due to complications from injuries sustained in a fall several weeks ago.

Born, May 4, 1922, in New Philadelphia, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Luke and Louise Kruse Meechan. She attended elementary school at Sacred Heart in New Philadelphia, high school at St. Joseph�(TM)s in Dover, but graduated from St. Mary�(TM)s in Dennison, after a family move her senior year. Following her graduation, Evelyn was employed by the Wolf & Lanning Sewer Pipe Co., Dennison.

On Feb. 21, 1948, she married Charles E. Storrie. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother �" a homemaker, in every sense of the word. There was not anything she would not do for her family. She was a great cook and an excellent baker, especially of pies. Evelyn always put others first, which, in addition to her family, meant caring for her friends and neighbors in times of need. She was a very giving person.

She was a devout Roman Catholic, attending Mass daily at Sacred Heart Church.

Survivors include her loving husband Charles; two sons, Charles E. (wife, Marva Joan) Storrie, Jr. of Dennison, and Tim (wife, Carolyn) Storrie of Spring Grove, PA; five grandchildren, Wendy (husband, Dan) Burroway, Charles (wife, Jennie) Storrie, III, Shannon, Heather and Steven Storrie; four great-grandchildren, Alex and Arista Burroway, Charles IV “Chase,” and Chelsea Storrie; three sisters, Margaret Altier of New Philadelphia, Barbara Meredith of Dennison, and Judy (husband, Earl) Henry of Uhrichsville; many nieces and nephews..

In addition to her parents, an infant son, John Allen Storrie; a sister, Helen Creager; and three brothers, Dan, Luke Jr., preceded Evelyn in death, and Tom Meechan.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m., in Sacred Heart Church, with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Those planning to attend are instructed to go directly to the church on Saturday morning. A committal service will take place later. Following the Mass, there will be a meal in the church�(TM)s St. Ambrose Hall.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations in Evelyn�(TM)s memory be made to Sacred Heart Church, 139 Third St. N.E., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
