Eugene L. "Gene" Neiger

Eugene L. "Gene" Neiger, age 80, of New Philadelphia, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, in Hennis Care Centre, Dover, with his loving wife, Ann, by his side.



Born June 28, 1933, in York Township. Tuscarawas County, he was a son of the late Edward W. and Clara O. Sherrets Neiger. Gene attended school in York Township, and was employed by the former I.F. Manufacturing at New Philadelphia, and Handy & Harman and Industrial Finishers, both at Dover, retiring in 1995. He also painted many area homes over the years. Gene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia.



Survivors include his wife, Ann L. Pallotto Neiger, with whom he would have celebrated his fifty-fifth wedding anniversary on July 5 of this year; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane L. and Tony Carlisle of New Philadelphia; his granddaughter and her husband, Ashley N. and Brian Eichorn of Dover; his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Sue Neiger of New Philadelphia; his sister, Bernice Nusbaumer of Massillon; and his many nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his much loved daughter, Lori A. Neiger; his brother and sister in law, Marion and Rita; sister and brother in law, Evelyn and Tod Detre; sister, Janice Devault; brothers and sister in law, William and Mary and Paul "Jim" and Alta Neiger and sister, Hattie Kandel.



There will be no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia; Fr. Jeff Coning will officiate.
