Erma M. Rufener

Erma M. "Marge" Rufener, 90, of Dover, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, in Union Hospital, following a brief illness.

Born, Mar. 13, 1918, in West Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel Weingarth. Erma resided in Dover most of her adult life. She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Erma was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. She liked to travel, and was a formidable Jass player.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia R. Rufener of Dover; dear friends, Gary (Denise) Mote, and their daughter, Stephanie Mote, of Kent, and John (Ellen) Mote, and their children, Katie and Evan Mote, of Wilmington, NC.

In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her life companion, Walter G. Mote, in 2002; and by four brothers, Norman, Carl, Raymond and Howard Weingarth.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at 1 p.m., in Dover Burial Park, with Rev. Michael W. Lowry officiating. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond memory of Erma, please visit the funeral home's Web site and click on "Obituaries."
