Emmett E. Espenschied

Emmett E. Espenschied, 94, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, October 22, 2009, in Aultman Hospital, Canton.

Born, July 12, 1915, in York Township, Tuscarawas County, he was a son of the late Albert J. and Florence Medley Espenschied. Emmett attended school in York Township, and was employed by Marlite in Dover for nearly forty years before retiring. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing, as well as growing fruits and vegetables, which, for many years, he sold to area restaurants and grocery stores. Emmett was a member of the First Assembly of God in New Philadelphia.

Survivors include two sons, Emmett "Butch" (Pauline) Espenschied and Harold "Gene" Espenschied , both of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Gwen (Tim) Moore of Carlisle, PA, Chuck (Colleen) Espenschied of New Philadelphia, and Michael (Petra) Espenschied of Kulmain, Germany; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Emmett was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Sylvia A. (Krebs) Espenschied, on July 25, 2008; nine sisters and three brothers.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service Monday, October 26, at 1 p.m., in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover; Pastor Larry Fletcher will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
