Elda M. Mizer

Elda M. Mizer, 96, of Dover died Friday, July 8, 2011 at her home.

Elda was a dedicated homemaker who later worked in the cafeteria at Union Hospital for 19 years.

Born January 29, 1915 in Monroe County, Ohio she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Rufener Longacher. Elda was also preceded in death by her husband Max F. Mizer in 1962; son, Max E. Mizer; brothers, Kenneth and Oscar Longacher; sisters, Frieda Kohl and Mabel Dreher.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover, Quilters Circle and the Tuscarawas Senior Citizens.

A wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, Elda will be sadly missed by her children, Carol Meek of New Philadelphia and Fred (Carol) Mizer of Dover; grandchildren, Robin (Todd) Altier, Craig (Tiffany) Meek, Kyle Meek and companion, Theresa Holzopfer and Tamara (Richard) Hershberger; great grandchildren, Alexis and Spencer Altier and Max Hershberger; sister, Esther "Sis" (Maurice) Froman of Bolivar and brother, Lester (Eloise) Longacher of Parral.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Richard Hershberger officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday.
