Edward L. Trunk

July 28, 1929 — January 28, 2018

Edward L. Trunk Sr., 88, of New Philadelphia pitched his last strike on Sunday, January 28, 2018 in the Community Hospice Truman House.

Eddy was born on July 28, 1929 in Cassandra, Pennsylvania. He graduated in 1947 from New Philadelphia High School, and proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Following the military, Eddy worked at IF Manufacturing for 33 years, and was employed at Lauren Manufacturing nine years prior to his retirement.

Many times we cross paths with people where one name is said, and most know who they are…….”Lebron”, “Cher” or “The Mick”. His name was “Steady”, if you knew or met him, it didn’t take long to know that Steady “loves ya”. The man was devoted to his family and friends; he would give you the shirt off his back, and could talk sports all day long. Eddy had a passion for all sports; he loved playing softball, and had a wicked curveball , but most of all, he was a great father. Keep firing fastballs for all of us Steady. Uncle Phil, Kay, Jhamsky, Boomer, Lindsey, Doos, KJ, Brit, Chauncey, Kyra, Jos, Sawyer, Boxcar, Christy, Terry, Lori, Gripper, Lancey Howard, Ernie, Growler, Charles “Da” Baby, Schlong, Starrman, Cookie, Hammer, Edie Wahl, Tarzan, The First Team, the list could go on and on. Countless friends knew him as Steady Eddy, we knew him as Dad, we will miss you Pops. Love, The Princess and Little Hondo.

Eddy is survived by his children, Sharon (Phil) Tidrick, Larry (Kay) Trunk both of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Logan (Lindsey) Tidrick, Kayela (Brittany) Tidrick, Jhama (Michael) Marston, Danielle Trunk and companion, Mike Czajka, Chant Trunk; five great grandchildren and his long-time companion, Janet Yeager.

Eddy was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Trunk Murphy; twin brother, John Trunk; step-father, Russell Murphy, and the mother of his children, Bobbie Trunk.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Please join the family in celebrating Eddy’s life on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Ricardo’s Party Center in New Philadelphia from 7-9 pm.
