Dorothy B. Poff

Dorothy B. Poff, 97, of Dover, Ohio and formerly of Steubenville died Friday, April 1, 2011 in the Park Village Health Care Center in Dover following a brief illness.

Born December 19, 1913 in Bellaire, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Nancy B. (Hickman) Schoen.

Dorothy attended the Newpointe Community Church in Dover and was a former member of the Women's Club and Order of Eastern Star both in Steubenville. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed traveling and camping. She and her husband also spent many hours volunteering at the former Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Poff who died June 24, 2006. They were married 71 years prior to his passing. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Schoen and a sister, Virginia Davis.

Dorothy will be sadly missed by her two daughters and sons in law, Judy and Carl Bell of Dover and Marsha and Richard Montgomery of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Scott (Nancy) Bell of Dover, Kelly (Mike) Wood of Lynchburg, Va., Nancy (Mark) Byrd of Perry, Ohio and Julie (Scott) Aten of Hartville, Ohio along with ten great grandchildren and a sister, Lois Howells of Atlanta, Georgia.

Dorothy' s life will be celebrated Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 11:30am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with her grandson, Scott Bell officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends will be received Tuesday from 10-11:30am.
