Doris V. Perkins

Doris V. Perkins, 92, of Bowerston died Monday, February 27, 2012 in the Sunny Slope Nursing Home.

She was a clerk at Polsky's Department Store in Akron for many years.

Born April 10, 1919 in Conotton, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Milford and Delia Snyder Downs. Doris was also preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred Poe and her second husband, Thurston Perkins who passed away exactly 10 years ago.

She was a member of the Scio American Legion Auxiliary. In her spare time she loved following all sports, especially NASCAR and football and enjoyed reading and puzzles as well.

Doris is survived by her step sons, Mark (Frances) Perkins of Copley and Richard (Marietta) Perkins of Stow; step grandchildren, Kimberly and Kristen and cousin, Harriett McClusky of Scio.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. There will be no services or calling hours. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Doris may do so by visiting the on line obituaries and flowers link on the funeral homes website.
