Doris C. Hizer

Doris C. Hizer, 88, of Canton died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.

Born April 27, 1926 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Bergquist Doidge. Doris was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Hizer on March 17, 2014; brothers, Edward and William Doidge.

Doris was employed as a Bookkeeper with JC Penney in Dover, East Liverpool and Canton for many years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in North Industry and sang in the choir. Doris and Charles loved camping and were members of the Tusco Traveliers, Buckeye Bacon Burners, and the Weekenders Coachman Club in Canton. In her spare time she also enjoyed crocheting and reading.

Doris is survived by her sons, Tom (Joan) Hizer of New Philadelphia and Edward Hizer of Canton; daughter, Ruth Ann Hizer of Tega Cay, South Carolina; sister in law, Dorothy Doidge of Tennessee; grandsons, Eric, Nicholas, Nathan and Matthew and great grandchildren, Nyah, Liev, Isla, Imogen, Willoughby, and Michael.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Scott Bacon officiating.
