Donald J. "Don" Fishel

Donald J. "Don" Fishel, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in the Community Hospice House, following a brief episode of declining health.

Born October 25, 1926 in Saltsburg, PA he was the son of the late Nightie and Lottie (Baker) Fishel. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Groh), and 10 brothers and sisters.

Don served in the United States Navy during World War II along with 3 of his brothers. He was a carpenter by trade, but a master of many. Don used his skills in painting, wallpaper hanging, and carpentry to build and maintain the family's rental business. His handiwork can be found in many area homes. Don enjoyed socializing with friends and family. He always had a joke or story ready to tell, and his laugh was infectious. Don recently celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by his friends and family. He will be missed by many.

Don is survived by his three children, Cindy (Tom) Vickers of Uhrichsville, Elaine Fishel and Doug Fishel both of Dover; along with 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 3pm at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Friends and family can call at the funeral home one hour prior on Saturday (2:00-3:00pm.)
