Donald served honorably in the United States Army, and later was employed as an independent truck driver and welder, having retired from Gradall at New Philadelphia. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, John and Ronald Waldschlager.

Honoring Donald's wishes, he will be cremated and his cremated remains placed in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman where military rites will be conducted.
