Deborah Lynn "Debbie" Jewell

Deborah Lynn "Debbie" Jewell, 58, of Strasburg passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton following an extended illness.

Born on October 8, 1955 in Martins Ferry, she was the daughter of Robert and Marianna (McIntire) Stevens. She was a 1973 graduate of Dover High School. On October 2, 1993, she married the love of her life, Jeffery Jewell, who preceded her in death exactly ten years ago on November 16, 2003. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Kristi Lynn Collins.

Debbie was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church. She was a kind, caring, and strong willed woman. She was always determined to conquer whatever obstacle was thrown her way. She was a very hard worker and loved her job as a Deputy Sheriff for the Tuscarawas County Sherriff's Department, which she retired after seventeen years of service. In the past, she also worked for the for the Ames and Hills department stores. She enjoyed selling both Avon and Home and Garden.

In addition to her parents, she will be sadly missed by her son; Christopher Collins of Strasburg; sister, Pam (Timothy) King of Dover; two grandchildren, Nadia and Kendan Collins of Dover; her mother and father in-law, Wilbur and Doris Jewell of Dalton; sister in-law, Sharon (Jerry) Dyer of Massillon; nieces, Dailynn Dyer of Massillon, Lyndi (Mark) Donley of Beach City, Kayla King of Dover, Brittany (Graham) Burns of Columbus; nephew, Travis Collins of Dennison; great-nephews, Connor and Dillon Donley of Beach City; special friends, Linda (Bob) Aubiel of Dennison; along with many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.


A celebration of Debbie's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. Lynda Masters officiating. Interment will take place at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. A meal will follow at the Dover Alliance Church.
