Debbie J. Jackson

June 15, 1957 — May 26, 2020

On May 26, 2020 at 7:25 PM cervical cancer transitioned Debbie Jo Jackson to her heavenly role in God’s kingdom where, as the force of nature she exhibited on earth, she will worship, serve and glorify him with all her might.

Daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother (Mimi) - of all the names a woman is called in this world, Debbie soulfully embodied the role of each name from her heart. She always put everything into anything she did for her family, friends and any cause to which she committed.

46 years of marriage to Bob reduces “till death do us part” to a truthless saying as the bond of two soulmates becoming one does not end with death but transcends time.

Becky and Paula mattered to Debbie, immensely, as did her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews … a mother’s hands may age, but her influence lasts forever.

Debbie was born on June 15, 1957 in Canton to the late Charles “Richard” and Mary Anderson Patterson. She attended the New Philadelphia Church of Christ and Faith Family Church in Canton. Debbie enjoyed the outdoors, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, camping and boating at Atwood and Tappen Lake. She was an incredible animal lover, and also enjoyed crocheting. Family was the center of her life, she especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Jackson whom she married on January 19, 1974; daughters, Rebecca (Mariano) Perez Gonzalez, Paula Smart both of Beach City; brothers, Arthur and George Patterson; sister, Joy (Vinson) Bair all of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Devin, Vincent, Courtney, Tyler, Desiree; great grandchildren, Brantly, Presley, Mason and Cooper; she is also survived by her best friend, Linda Ott of Dover.

A service celebrating Debbie’s life will be held on Monday, June 1 starting at 12:00 pm in the First Church of the Nazarene, New Philadelphia with Pastor Mark Maddux officiating. The family will be greeting friends at the church from 10:00 am until the start of the service at noon. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg is handling arrangements.
