David B. Mcclintock Sr.

David B. �Dirt� McClintock Sr., 60, of Freeport, Ohio died at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 02, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on February 7, 1950 in Dover, he was the son of the late Everett and Mary McClintock. David was a graduated of the Dover High School class of 1968. He honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After 30 years of service, David retired from Timken Roller Bearing in Canton.

David was a man who thrived being outdoors, whether he was hunting deer and turkey, fishing, riding his Harley, or taking road trips in his Jeep. He loved living in the country and spending time at Clendening Lake. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed growing potatoes, tomatoes and cucumbers. He also had a special talent for making birdhouses.


His wife, Janice L. Shear, whom he married on October 16, 1971, will sadly miss him. He also leaves behind two daughters; Melanie (Joey) Day of Strasburg, Kimberly (Jimmy) Sisk of Tucson, Arizona; son, David B. McClintock Jr. of Beach City; four grandchildren, Ashley and Zakari Monnot and Trent and Tyrel Miller; great granddaughter, Peyton Monnot; his brother, Larry McClintock of Dover; stepmother, Barbara McClintock of Dover; step sisters; Terrie Bradshaw of Dover and Cheryl Lautzeniser of New Philadelphia; step brother Gene Rice of Dover; sisters-in-law; Carolyn Limbaugh of Dover, Dianne Schuld of Lombard, Illinois, Faye (Lenard) Stingel of New Philadelphia; brother-in-law, Richard (Sue) Shear of Dalzel South Carolina as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

In honoring David�s wishes, cremation has taken place through the care of Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. A public memorial service will be held at NewPointe Community Church in Dover with Pastor Dwight Mason officiating on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11:00 am. Following the service, a meal will be served in the church reception hall. At 12:45 pm, a funeral procession will leave for Dover Burial Park where inurnment will take place and the Dover VFW will conduct a military graveside service.
