David A. Rochester

April 14, 1941 — February 13, 2005

David A. Rochester, 63, of 445 Oxford Ave., Newcomerstown, Ohio died Sunday, February 13, 2005 in his home following an extended illness. David was one of the Cleveland Clinic�(TM)s longest living heart transplant recipients.

He was a truckdriver for Anderson Dairy in Las Vegas until illness forced his retirement. He was also previously a manager of fast food restaurants including KFC and Burger King. He was also a former employee of General Electric and Clow Pipe both in Coshocton.

Born April 14, 1941 in Wheeling, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ralph Byron and Laura Spear Rochester.

David was a member of the Roxford United Methodist Church in Dennison. He was a US Marine Corp. veteran during the Vietnam era. He was a former member of the Dover VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed raising birds and loved the outdoors especially fishing. During his early years, he enjoyed golf and outdoor sports. When unable to participate in these, he found enjoyment on the computer version of several games. Recently, he enjoyed walks in the park on his mobility skooter and long scenic drives.

David is survived by his wife, Linda Hummell Rochester with whom he would have celebrated nine years of marriage in November. He is also survived by a daughter, Jennifer A. Parrish and her children, Gabriel (age 5) and Memphis (age 19 months) of New Philadelphia; one son, Kenneth A. Rochester of New Philadelphia; two stepsons, William R. (Kathy) Hummell of Navarre and children, Bill (Anne) Hummell, Andrea and Elizabeth and James C. (Connie) Hummell and children, Cassie and Kyle of New Concord, Ohio; one sister, Susan (Richard) Stoker of Trussville, Alabama, a nephew, Richard Scott Stoker and son, Joshua of Coshocton.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary (Kutschinske) Rochester who died July 5, 1989. He was also preceded by his stepfather, Paul Durben and a nephew, Christopher David Stoker.

A celebration of David�(TM)s life will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 11am in the Roxford United Methodist Church in Dennison with Pastors Henry Mooney and Ted Knapp officiating. Interment will be in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military graveside services. A reception will follow the burial in New Life center at Roxford church. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
