Curtis C. ''Curt'' Auman

Curtis C. “Curt” Auman, 56, of Yorba Linda, California, died Tuesday, September 10, 2002, in Western Medical Center, Santa Ana, California, following a sudden illness.

Born September 14, 1945, in Dover, he was a son of the late Walter and Verna Marie Wunderlich Auman. Curt graduated in 1962 from Dover High School, and entered the U.S. Navy. He served honorably on the U.S.S. Bennington and the U.S.S. America. Curt was a millwright for thirty years, and was presently employed by United Riggers & Erectors. He was a member of Carpenters Local 1607, Los Angeles. Curt also owned C.A.R.S. Automotive, Dover.

Curt loved N.H.R.A. drag racing. He held the National Track Record in his class in 1970 at twenty-four years of age. His fastest career run was 162.03 miles per hour.

Survivors include his wife, Emmalee Church Auman, whom he married December 28, 1985; two daughters, Raejean Wyrie of Gainesville, Georgia, and Nicole Auman of Buckeye, Arizona; a son, Jesse D. “J.D.” Auman of the home; three grandsons, Zachary and Hunter Wyrie, and Brett Auman; a brother, Larry Auman; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Military rites will be performed at the grave. There will be a reception following the committal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Visitation will be Monday, September 16, 2002, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in the funeral home.
