Colleen K. (Smith) Espenschied

Colleen K. (Smith) Espenschied, 52, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, August 7, 2014 in the Cleveland Clinic following a five month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born March 29, 1962 in Dover she was a daughter of Gary and Edna Yackey Smith of Strasburg. Colleen is also survived by her husband of five years, Charles "Chuck" Espenschied whom she married on November 22, 2008; step children, Scott, Stacy and Stephen Espenschied all of New Philadelphia; brother, Kevin (JJ) Smith of Cambridge; nephews, Ian and Adam Smith; father and mother in law, Butch (Pauline) Espenschied of New Philadelphia and sister and brother in law, Gwen (Tim) Moore of Pennsylvania.

Colleen was employed at Kimble's in Canton as an Assistant Administrator. She was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church, Democratic Party, served on New Philadelphia City Council and was a volunteer for the Miss Ohio and Miss Clayland Pageants. Colleen enjoyed bowling and was in leagues with both Wabash and Boulevard Lanes. In her spare time, she loved spending quality time with her family and friends along with camping.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastors Larry Sams and Jason Humble officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 pm.
