Clarence Roger Corpman

Clarence “Roger” Corpman, 81, a lifelong resident of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, February 27, in Union Hospital.

Born April 6, 1923 at New Phila., he was the son of the late John F. & Elizabeth Griffin Corpman.

Roger retired in 1984 from the Ray Molder Carrier Corporation where he had worked as a truck driver.

He was a man of varied interests who made the most of his years following his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He also loved spending time in his garden and tending to his vegetables. Some of his favorites times were spent traveling with his wife, the late Judith L. Butts Corpman who died December 20, 2003, including trips to one of their favorite spots �" Elko, NV.

Roger also proudly served his country. While in the Navy during World War II, he earned the Purple Heart during action in the Pacific Theater.

Survivors include: his son, Roger W. Corpman of Canton; his daughter, Ida “Lee” Corpman of Dover; a brother, John Corpman of Dover; a sister “Deanie” Davies of East Sparta; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; and his special friend and companion, Betty Burgan of Sugarcreek.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Roger was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Corpman, two brothers, Stanley and Adrian Corpman and a daughter-in-law, Breniadine Corpman.

A service that celebrates Roger�(TM)s life will be held Thursday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Phila. with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens where military rites will be conducted. Following the burial, the family will receive friends at a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.

Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.
