Charles E. Thornton, 75, of Barnhill, died Wednesday, Mar. 16, 2005, at the home of his sister, Gertrude Saperito, in Barnhill, following a brief illness.

Born Jul. 19, 1929, in Barnhill, he was a son of the late Ephriam and Hannah Courim Thornton. Charles retired from the Republic Steel Co., Massillon following twenty-nine years of service. He greatly enjoyed his work at
Republic, because he worked on the company�(TM)s railroad and was out-of-doors most of the time.

Charles was a member of Roxford United Methodist Church, Dennison, and the United Steelworkers�(TM) Union. He liked to tinker, especially with anything that had a motor. If it didn�(TM)t have a motor, he�(TM)d often put one in. If he couldn�(TM)t find a part, he�(TM)d make one.

Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Kay (Bob) Monastra of Canton, Connie Olberding of Midvale, Vanessa (Rob) Copeland of Holton, IN, and Tammy Thornton
of Goshen; three sons, Charles J. (Debra) Thornton and Tim (Flora Jane) Thornton, both of Barnhill, and Lorne (Rhonda) Thornton of New Philadelphia; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude
Saperito of Barnhill; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Alberta Emhoff Thornton, in 1999; a grandson; two great-grandsons; two sisters; and a brother.

Charles�(TM) life will be celebrated Saturday, Mar. 19, at 1 p.m., in Roxford United Methodist Church, 771 Roxford Church Rd. S.E., Dennison. Pastor Henry E.
Mooney will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a meal in Roxford Church. Family and friends are
