Carolyn K. (Yackey) Hess

Carolyn K. (Yackey) Hess, 51, of Strasburg, Ohio died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a sudden illness.

She was a hairdresser for many years having operated the former Looking Glass Beauty Salon in New Philadelphia. She also was a former employee for Connie�(TM)s Hair Salon in Strasburg.

Born April 27, 1951 in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Dallas and Carol Waltz Yackey.

Carolyn was a member of the First Eva. Lutheran Church at Strasburg. She was a 1969 graduate of Strasburg High School and attended the Tusc. Campus of Kent State University. She was a graduate of Gerber Beauty School in Dover. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed cooking, knitting, baking and taking care of her house plants. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Hess with whom she celebrated 26 years of marriage on September 28. She is also survived by two daughters; Julie Hess of Zanesville and Holli Hess of the home. One son, Richie Hess of the home; a stepdaughter, Cathy (Roger) Hudnall of New Philadelphia; one sister, Susan (Paul) Samsa of Strasburg; two brothers, Mike (Patty) Yackey of Strasburg and Mark (Dana) Yackey of Dover; three step grandchildren Lea and Sarah Hudnall of New Philadelphia and Ricky Young of Virginia and her God son, Jonah Wiandt of Strasburg.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Jean Hess and her granddaughter, Hope Marie Young.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday at 11 am in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg with Rev. Fred Grosse officiating. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Strasburg on Friday from 5-8 pm.
