Betty Lee Wells

May 22, 1923 — March 15, 2008

Betty Lee Wells, 84, a longtime resident of Uhrichsville, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 in Twin City Hospital, following a sudden illness.

The daughter of the late Rolley & Margaret Moore, she was born May 22, 1923 in Hundred, West Virginia.

She was a dedicated worker, retiring after 26 years of service from the former Dover Molded Products.

In retirement, she became a fixture in a variety of senior activities and scores of church and civic groups as well, touching lives at every stop. Among her many local ties were her connections with: Uhrichsville's Grace United Methodist Church; the Twin City Chapter of AARP where she was Past President and had served as entertainment director; local retired steelworkers groups and the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens serving both as entertainment director. In addition, she was past Vice President of Classic Gold Travel Club, and had served on the Board of Directors for the Tuscarawas County Christian Service Center.

She was proud of her affiliation with Hospice of Tuscarawas County as a long-time volunteer for it's Browse-N-Buy resale store in New Philadelphia, and also enjoyed volunteering on Saturday mornings in the coffee shop at Twin City Hospital.

Many will remember her for her love of travel and get-togethers with family and friends, and no one will ever forget her love for a good game of cards!

Betty always put family first and will be sadly missed by surviving family members including: two daughters, Sherry (Dennis, Sr.) Trimmer of New Philadelphia and Kathi (Suren) Chawla of North Canton; and two adoring grandchildren, Dennis (Suzanne) Trimmer, Jr., of New Philadelphia and Dennielle (Aaron) Stull also of New Philadelphia. She was a doting great-grandmother who will also be missed by great-grandchildren Matt & Alicia Riccardi of California. Over the past three years, her greatest joy in life had been playing the role of "Be-Be" with her family's newest additions, great-grandsons Rocky Warner Stull and Simeon Wells Stull of New Philadelphia.

Other surviving members include: five sisters, Mary Hammel of Yuma, AZ, Elaine Shaffer of Crestview, FL, Elizabeth (Thomas "Buck") Taylor of Moundville, WV, Sarah (Don) Fernie of Peoria, AZ, and Carol Cross of Hundred WV.

Her husband, Winford P. Wells, who died in 1977, preceded her in death.

She was additionally preceded in death by: her son, David Wells, two sisters, Lela Lemly and Catheryn Mackenson; three brothers, Jack Moore, Junior Milligan, Rolley Moore, Jr.; and great-grandson Joey Riccardi.
