Betty L. Bevan

Betty L. Bevan, age 81, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014, in Community Hospice House, following a brief illness.



Born August 8, 1933, in Smyrna, she was a daughter of the late Ovral and Margaret Corbin Moore. Betty graduated from Gnadenhutten High School, and, in addition to being a loving homemaker, was employed by Shop 'n' Save Supermarkets in Pennsylvania, Giant Eagle and Wal-Mart in Ohio, and as a Grandmother at West Elementary School in New Philadelphia. She worked hard all of her life and enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was also a member of the Dover Moose Lodge.



Survivors include her daughter, Katherine (Russell "Chip") Kohser of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; her son, Kenneth (Tammy) Lorenz of Midland, Texas; her six step-children, Robin (Mark) Handy of Georgia, Richard (Melissa) Bevan , Denis (Sherri) Bevan and Pam (Brian) Johnson, all of Strasburg, Jeff Bevan of New Philadelphia and Karen (Bill) Marsden of Dennison; her seventeen grandchildren; her sixteen great-grandchildren (plus two great-grandchildren expected later this year); her sister, Doris (Earl) Taylor of New Philadelphia; and by her several nieces and nephews.



Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of fifteen years, Robert F. "Bob" Bevan, on May 26th of this year; and by her brother, Icel Moore.



Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Friday (today), 5 7 p.m. Private services will be held Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Handy officiating.
