Betty J. Hoffman

Betty J. Hoffman, 89, of Strasburg, Ohio died Thursday, April 8, 2010 in Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.

Born July 25, 1920 in Roswell, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Ida Day.

Betty was a retired employee of Sparta Mfg. Company near Dover.

She was a member of the New Apostolic Church and was Past Matron and a member of the Cypress Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Myron C. Hoffman who died Nov. 7, 1985 and her second husband, Ulrich "Uli" Hoffman who preceded her on April 6, 2002.

She is survived by her son, William E. Hoffman of Strasburg; three stepsons, Herbert (wife, Dianne) Gritzan of North Canton, Ronald (wife, Tanya) Gritzan and Walter (wife, Sally) Gritzan both of Strasburg; two grandchildren, Nathan (wife, Barbara) Hoffman of Daphne, Alabama and Gregory Hoffman of Audubon, New Jersey; stepgrandchildren, Aaron Ullman of Chandler, Arizona, Carie and Brian Bleininger of Dover, Catherine Gritzan of Cleveland, Dena and Rene Komula of Columbus, Karly Gritzan of Strasburg, Lindsay, Laura, and Lisa Gritzan of Strasburg along with two great grandchildren Parker and Erica Hoffman and three step great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Victoria Hoffman and a sister, Donna Haver.

A funeral service celebrating Betty's life will be held Monday, April 12, 2010 at 8pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8pm. Eastern Star services will begin Monday at 5:45pm.
