Arlene V. Reese

February 26, 1931 — May 26, 2016

Arlene V. Reese, age 85, of Dover, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016, in the home of her daughter, Debbie Goodhart, at Dover, surrounded by her loving family, following a long illness.

Born February 26, 1931, at Cincinnati, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Violet Smith Eversull. Arlene graduated from Hughes High School at Cincinnati , and was employed in the insurance industry there. She married Eugene "Gene" Reese on September 15, 1950, and the couple moved to Dover where they reared a daughter and son and Arlene assisted with the family business, Reese Trucking. Her life revolved around her family, whom she dearly loved, especially her grandchildren. She made it a point to always be at their school and sporting events, and family vacations to Myrtle Beach were important occasions where many good memories were made. Animals and their welfare were also very important to Arlene; she shared her home with a number of beloved pets over the years.

Arlene enjoyed an active life, riding horses, and playing golf, racquetball and cards with family and friends. She was truly an unselfish individual, and a bright light to her family to whom her death is a great loss.

Survivors include her husband of nearly sixty-six years, Gene; her daughter, Debbie Goodhart; her son, Eugene "Rick" (Linda) Reese of Dover; her grandchildren, Scot (Holly) Goodhart, Brian (Shelly) Goodhart and Eric Goodhart, Rajean (Charles West) Hisle, Mark (Jen) Reese, Jennifer (Steve) Utter, Jessica (Jason) Barton and Eugene "C.J." (Tyler) Reese; her sixteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Carol (Jack) Rudicil of Cincinnati; and several very special nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Mary Campo Reese; her brother-in-law, Glenn Neidlinger; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Mary Lee Wallick; her very special nephew, John O'Neil; as well as members of both the Campo and Eversull families who were very special in Arlene's heart and the hearts of her family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 18, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover, with her brother-in-law, Pastor Jack Rudicil, officiating. Immediately following the service, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard, Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday, 11:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond memory of Arlene, please visit the Obituaries and Flowers link on the Toland-Herzig website.
