Anthony Lee Michael Smart

Anthony Lee Michael "Ant" Smart, age 9, of Sherrodsville, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, after a car hit him while he was walking across Ste. Rte. 39 to his home after getting the mail from the mailbox.

Born, May 12, 1998, in Nashville, TN, Anthony was a son of Randy L. Smart and the late Renee E. Murphy Smart. He was a Fourth Grade student at Dellroy Elementary School where he had high marks and played basketball. Anthony also played Pee Wee Football for the Conotton Valley Rockets. He enjoyed swimming and fishing in the lake near his home, riding his bicycle and playing cards with his grandparents. Additionally, Anthony liked to help out in the kitchen, where he was learning to make meals and bake. He was a very happy young man.

Besides his father, Randy, he is sadly missed by his brother, Christian Anthony Smart; maternal grandparents, Ken and Janet Murphy of Dover; uncle and aunt, Mike and Pam Smart of Green River, WY; cousins, Mikayla and Cody Smart; and loving friend, Debbie Joyner.

In addition to his mother, Renee, who died in 2005, Anthony was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gene and Angie Smart.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Friday, Dec. 21, 4 - 8 p.m. A funeral service for Anthony will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with Pastor Milo Baker and Rev. Jack Stahl officiating. Anthony will be cremated and his cremated remains will be buried with his mother in Dover Burial Park at a later date. Immediately following the service on Saturday, there will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. The family asks that food donations be taken directly to the Monarch Center after 9:30 the morning of the funeral.
