Ann Elizabeth Groh

May 28, 1934 — November 3, 2021

Ann Elizabeth (Kratzer) Groh, 87, of Dover ascended with angels to her heavenly home on 11/3/21 following a brief stay at Hennis Care Center in Dover. She died peacefully with Glen, her spouse of 66 years by her side.
A daughter of the late Daniel and Sarah (Moser) Kratzer, Ann was born on May 28, 1934 (before the Dionne Quintuplets) in Canton, OH. She attended Plain City Local and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951. After graduation she attended Principia College and then received her degree in 1955 from Kent State University. Upon graduation she was employed by the East Ohio Gas Company for 10 years as a Home Economist, and then later she taught German at Dover High School, having retired in 1994.

On October 22, 1955 Ann married Lt. G. Glen Groh at St. John’s Evangelical & Reformed Church. In addition to her spouse, she is survived by their two children, Chris (Nancy) Groh of Jamestown, NC and Sarah (Russ) Lillard of Morgantown, WV, and five grandchildren; Katie, Kelsey, and Curtis Lillard and Erin and Kylie Groh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Paul and Daniel Kratzer.

As a child, Ann enjoyed playing with her goats and chickens, and watching her brothers play baseball. Ann was an active member of St. John’s UCC in Dover, working in the nursery and as a member of the Newlyweds Sunday School class. She was active in a variety of volunteer organizations including; Trumpet in the Land/Ohio Outdoor Historical Drama Association (past President), Kidron Community Historical Society, Chairman of the Dover Bicentennial committee, charter member of the Chestnut Society, Cousins Club, Mobile Meals, Food Pantry, and judged baked goods at the Tuscarawas County fair. In her spare time, she was an avid knitter (who could knit anything and once completed a 10K run/walk while knitting) and enjoyed going to Shady Grove and Hartville flea markets to add to her collections of Jumbo Peanut Butter jars/Elephants, Nutcrackers, Cobalt blue glassware, Hedgehogs, and Salt/Pepper shakers. She received the Zeisberger Heckewelder Award by the Tuscarawas County Historical Society in May, 2008.

Glen, and the rest of the family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors who have provided comfort during this time and the caregivers at Hennis Care Center and Interim Hospice for all of their care and compassion during her final days here on earth.
