Andrew Struhar, 77, of Dover died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at his home following a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's disease.

Born February 9, 1935 in Ecorse, Michigan he was a son of the late Andrew and Katherine Cerveni Struhar. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, George Struhar, Tony, Sam and Andy Nepsa and his sister, Anne Mercer.

Andy was a long time sales manager of the former Dover Foods Co., who then retired in 1997 from Abbott Foods. Following his retirement he and his wife, "CJ" moved to The Villages in Lady Lake, Florida where he enjoyed golf and was a member of the Northlake Presbyterian Church, Jazz Lovers Club and the Browns Backer Club. While living in Dover, Andy was a former life member of the Dover Elks and was a current member of the New Philadelphia Elks, as well as, being a very involved and active member of the Dover Jaycee's. Andy was also a professional drummer who played with the Dick Polletti Trio for many years. He was an avid sports fan who coached his sons in Little League and followed the Buckeyes, all of the Cleveland professional teams and of course, his beloved Dover Tornados.

A caring and loving husband, father and grandfather, Andy will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Clarajean "CJ" Stein Struhar whom he married on October 16, 1955; children, Steven (Marla) Struhar of Dover, John (Jill) Struhar of Forest, Virginia, Kathy (Ken) West of Dover and Susie (Mike) Bell of New Philadelphia; sister, Irene Slasor of New Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer (Dave) Schrock, Matthew, Amy, Alex and Stevie Struhar, Ariel (Michael) Tyson, Andrew, Autumn, and Anna Struhar, Ian Struhar and Nicole West, Erin and Jeremy Bell; great grandson, Cale Tyson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 4:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Michael Tyson officiating. Following the service a funeral dinner will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 pm.
