Amy Pennington Becker

Amy Pennington Becker, 89, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006.

Born Jun. 4, 1916, in Crestview, TN, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Ida Pennington. Amy moved with her family to New Philadelphia in 1928 and
graduated from New Philadelphia High School. She married the late Earl F. Becker on Dec. 15, 1942. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Amy is survived by her sons, David (Kay) Becker of Clearwater, FL, Thomas Becker of Portland, OR, and Phillip (Susan) Becker of Dover; and six grandchildren.

She was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Dover, where she belonged to the Women's Guild, and at one time taught Sunday school.

Amy enjoyed the friendships of the ladies in her various Bridge clubs. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker, and always made time to chat. Her loving and
giving personality, and her caring and compassion touched maany lives. She will be sadly missed.

Amy's life will be celebrated in a service Monday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 803 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, with Pastor
Dennis F. Fredriksen officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch
Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 5, 3 - 5 p.m. To sign an online guestbook and
