Albert D. Rimer

Albert D. Rimer, 80, of 1822 N. Walnut St., Dover, Ohio died Saturday, October 2, 1999 at Union Hospital following an apparent heart attack in his home.

He retired in 1982, as a controller for Bailey Controls and Babcock & Wilcox in Cleveland.  Following retirement, he was formerly the local coordinator for the AARP Tax Service in Tuscarawas County.

Born May 11, 1919 in Dover, he was the son of the late Earl and Bessie Swope Rimer.

Albert was a director for the Starlight Board MR/DD.  He was also a former member of the South Euclid and Wickliffe Rotary Club, James B. Ruhl Masonic Lodge in Lyndhurst, Alpha Pi Fraternity, Phi Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and the Beta Alpha Psi national honorary accounting fraternity.  He was a 1937 graduate of Dover High School, 1948 graduate of Case Western Reserve University.  Al was a World War II U.S. Army Airforce veteran having served in Australia and New Guinea.  He enjoyed golf and with his brothers started the Senior Golf League at Green Valley Golf Course.

He is survived by his wife Valeria (Betty) Moser Rimer with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage Sept. 26.
Two daughters  Susan Elizabeth (William) Hedgecough of O'Fallon, Illinois and Sally Jo Rimer of the home.

Two grandchildren  Stacey Hedgecough of Belleville, Illinois and Amy McKenna of Everett, Washington

Three great grandchildren  Aeriana and Julianne Hedgecough and Mallory McKenna and his beloved dog, Ruby.

Two Brothers  Earl and Paul Rimer both of Dover.
One Sister  Martha Sweeney of Melbourne, Fla.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Rimer and one sister, Mildred Rimer.

Cremation will take place with private graveside services at a later date in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover.   Friends will be received in the Rimer home on Monday and Tuesday from 2-5 PM. Those unable to attend may sign the online register book for Albert on our website  www.tolandherzig.com.
