Adrian H. Mathias, 102, of Dover died Monday, June 28, 2004 at the Country Club Center.

He was a mail carrier for the Dover Post Office, having retired in 1965 after 40 years of service.

Born December 8, 1901 in Warwick Twp., Tuscarawas County, Ohio he was a son of the late Philip and Martha Metzger Mathias.

Adrian was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years, AARP, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and International Order of Odd Fellows. He was also a member and past president of Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens and National Association of Letter Carriers. He graduated in 1920 from Gnadenhutten High School and attended Tuscarawas County Normal School.

Adrian was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Weldon Mathias, who died on December 31, 1997.

He is survived by a son, Adrian J. Mathias of Burlingame, California.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Marion C. “Bud” Mathias; two brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at 11:00 am in the Dover Burial Park with Pastor Marlin Drake officiating. There are no calling hours. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover is handling arrangements.
