Yvonne C. Gintz

Yvonne C. Gintz, 88, passed away in the Salem Regional Medical Center on Saturday, January 13, 2018. She lived with her son, Don, in Columbiana for the last six years, but always considered Dover her home.

Born February 22, 1929 in Homer City, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Irene Kramish Yanity. Her father died at an early age and was raised by her step-father, Arthur Gertson. In addition to her parents and step-father, Yvonne was also preceded in death by her husband, Gerald L. Gintz on November 19, 2000; an infant daughter, Mary Gintz; three sisters, Jeannie Gertson, Peggy Wiley and Irene Stivison and brothers in law, Robert (Coreen) Gintz and James (Marcella) Gintz.

After graduating from Waynesburg College, she worked as a Medical Lab Technician in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Coshocton and Dover before she married Gerald on October 20, 1954. She was a dedicated homemaker who was involved with her sons’ activities during their school days. Yvonne was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, volunteered at Dover Hennis Care Centre, and was a substitute teacher and cafeteria worker for St. Joseph Elementary School.

She is survived by her sons, Donald Gintz of Columbiana, Stephen Gintz of Dover; sister in law, Carol (Larry) Kaelin of New Philadelphia and grandchildren, Stephanie, Alex and Kimber; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
