L. Dale Smith, 82, of Dover died Thursday evening, Nov. 30, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness.

Born on Christmas Day in 1934 in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fred and Emma (Sommers) Smith. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a son Dale Jr. and his mother and father in law, Adeline Haas Griffey and Clarence Haas.

Dale was a Superintendent at Belden Brick Company in Sugarcreek until his retirement in 1995 following 29 years of service.

He was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover and the Men’s Fellowship Group. He attended Dover High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
