Jerry "Bubba" Herron

Jerry “Bubba” Herron, age 56, of Dover, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, in Community Hospice’s Truman House.

Born New Year’s Day, 1961, Bubba was a son of Shirley Meese Herron of Dover and the late Charles R. “Chink” Herron. He graduated from Dover High School in 1980, and was employed by U.S. Ceramic Tile Co. in East Sparta and later by Stark Truss, Canton, until illness made it too difficult for him to work.

Bubba was a member of NewPointe Community Church and the Loyal Order of Moose, both of Dover, and a social member of the New Philadelphia Post of the V.F.W.

He very much enjoyed being a grandfather to Ayvah, whom he loved dearly, and teasing his nieces and nephews, whom he loved as well. Bubba liked automobiles and working on them, NASCAR, and going to the races. He also liked to eat, especially going to restaurants and barbecuing. Additionally, Bubba enjoyed church and time spent shopping with his mom.

Besides his mother, Shirley, Bubba is survived by his daughter, Danielle (Wathana Sophath) Herron of Millersburg; his granddaughter, Ayvah Sophath; his siblings, Tracy (Bob) Knierim of Olmsted Falls, Lorie (Derek) Mann of Dover, and Kevin (Lindsay) Herron of Strasburg; his nieces and nephews, Brittany, Kayla and Alex Penso, Tori Mann, Mason Howell, Autumn and Trevor Knierim, Delanee and Maloree Herron; his aunts, uncles and cousins; and his cockatiel, Bubba Jr.

In addition to his father, his grandparents preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Thursday (today), June 22, 5 – 8 p.m., and on Friday, June 23, 1 – 2 p.m., at the NewPointe Community Church. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dwight Mason, will be held in the church at 2 p.m. following Friday’s visitation. Bubba’s family extends an invitation to join them for a meal in the church immediately after the service.
