THE GREATEST (HUMAN) LOVE STORY EVER TOLD
MELVIN AND NADINE PIETSCH

Two weeks ago I had a dream (or a vision) that my father was sitting in an overstuffed chair in front of a sewing machine in Heaven and my mother was in a similar chair across from him. He was sewing blouses for her and she was holding them up and showing me how beautiful they were. Upon awakening from that dream all I could take away was that my father was getting her heavenly garments ready for her.

Two years ago, approaching 70 years of marriage, our father passed away on January 19th, 2016, at 7:20pm just days before their 69th wedding anniversary. They were two peas in a pod and very much in love. Our precious mother tried to make the adjustment without our father and did fairly well. However, just recently she fell ill from age and physical problems and soon was on her death bed. At some point I realized that we were just a few days away from my father's 2 year death anniversary. I knew it would be so very meaningful for her to pass on that day and started praying for that. But when Hospice came in they said it would be 1-3 months so I accepted that. The next day on January 19th, 2018 at 6pm our mother took her last breath and joined our father in heaven. She made it within an hour and a half of his actual time of death two years later to the day. We took that very personally feeling like that was a direct blessing from God and that our father was granted some kind of privilege to come and take her home.

A seminary professor once told me that my parents were noble people. He did not know the half of it. They are not only noble but Godly, faithful followers of Christ. Every day of my life they modeled Christlike love and faithfulness in front of me. I learned at their feet the meaning of stable marriage and family. I saw them love and support each other. I saw my father treat my mother with love and respect. I saw my mother care for and respect my father. They may never know the legacy they are leaving because they simply lived out their Christian faith in front of their children, grandchildren and the Body of Christ.

Mom and Dad, we will see you soon. Jan
