Barbara Lou Barcroft

Barbara Lou Barcroft, 80, of Dover died suddenly on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Union Hospital in Dover.

Born on June 12, 1937 in Somerdale, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Robert “Osby” and Mabel (Roberts) Barnes. She attended Dover High School. On July 30, 1954 she married the love of her life, and high school sweetheart, Tom L. Barcroft. Tom preceded her in death on June 29, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William “Bill” Barnes, and sister in law, Lu Barnes.

Barbara was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover. Barbara enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She also loved going to local concert performances at Tuscora Park and the Little Theatre. She was a “regular” at Bob Evans Restaurant in Dover.

She will be sadly missed by her children; Tom (Kris) Barcroft of Mansfield, Barbara Jo (Ray) Thompson of Dover, Gloria Franks of Dover, and Christopher Barcroft of Concord, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Brandon) Tylke, Nathan (Amy) Ady, Tony and Trisha Thompson, Ben and Nicholas Barcroft, and Zachary (Meg) Barcroft; five great grandchildren, Jacob Thompson, Zander and Lily Ady, Asher and Tatum Tylke; her sisters, Betty (Jack) Dauer, Sherry (Jerry) Cargnel; her brother, Robert “Bob” Barnes; sister in law, Goldie Gay Barcroft; along with several nieces and nephews and close friends.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5-7pm. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at the First Moravian Church in Dover on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00am with Pastor John Wallace officiating. Interment will take place at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served in the church social hall.
